Frequently Asked Questions

How is Meter different from other batteries out there?

Well, to start, we proudly make our batteries here in the United States. Battery systems come with a one million dollar liability insurance for the first three years. Every battery is fully-self monitored and remotely optimized for peak efficiency by professionals in our control center. If there are any errors or sudden drops in performance, our engineers will either perform automatic maintenance through the control center or we will hire a technician to go and service your unit.

When will I receive my tax credit and state rebates?

The tax credit will be applied when you file your annual tax. State rebates may take up to 6 months after a project is completed.

Are shipping, permitting and installation included?

We cover your shipping. Permitting and installation are subject to local rates.

What type of battery is inside?

Lithium Iron Phosphate. In addition to the safety advantages this type of battery provides, it also has the benefit of not containing cobalt, a toxic substance, the mining of which has significant humanitarian and ethical concerns.

Can my battery be used every day?

Yes, our batteries are designed for everyday use.

Is Meter safe?

Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) is considered to be safer than other types of lithium-ion batteries, such as lithium cobalt batteries. LiFeP04 is more thermally stable and has a much higher thermal runaway temperature than other lithium-ion chemistries. It's so safe we include a one million dollar liability insurance for our Meter batteries for the first 3 years.

Will it work with existing batteries from other companies?

Meter Home batteries are designed to work solely with other Meter Home batteries. However, your Meter battery will work with most solar setups.

How do I prolong the life of my battery?

We do not restrict the depth of discharge if it is used daily. If it is not used daily, we suggest the resting stage be between 40% and 60%.

What is the warranty?

Each battery comes with a 10-year warranty on the battery cell and a 5-year standard warranty.

Can I participate in a program with my utility company where they deduct my energy contribution to the grid from my electric bill or otherwise compensate me?

Yes, these are financial benefits that are possible with our batteries. Please contact your utility to see if they offer this type of program.
